The law of small numbers

Postby system3 » Wed Sep 25, 2019 5:32 am

(Adapted from Belief in the law of small numbers)The mean IQ of the population of 2500 eighth graders in a city is known to be 100 and the standard deviation to be 15. You have selected a random sample of 50 children for a study of educational achievements. The first child tested has an IQ of 150. What do you expect the mean IQ to be for the whole sample?
If the same children are tested again the next week, and the standard deviation for any given child's score is 5 then what do you expect the mean to be for the second test?
