Anna Henchman shows how new scientific discoveries came as a breath of fresh air. It wasn't just scientists who were interested, any educated person would want to know about the latest scientific ideas, and these ideas began to influence the way people thought. In particular authors of literary works were keen to move away from the idea of a story with a fixed centre to one with multiple points of view.
